Not just great for scrappin but great for cards too - this is a great value pack, I used just under half a pack to make 14 cards, 3 decorated giftbags, tags, and a little treat box. The colours are superb, they are so bright and cheery especially as today it is raining!.claire - http://stampinupscrapper.blogspot.com/

Shadow Stamping

Shadow Stamping - I'm not sure if that is what this technique is called but that's what I'm calling it! I've used Carte Postale here because I've seen lots of flourishes in blogland recently and I like this one from this set. I started off by stamping using Versamark and then Taken With Teal and clear embossing. I also used an embossing pen to colour in the white bits to let the white card show through. I then offset the stamp again using Lovely Lilac. The cardstock was then stamped with a sponge using Perfect Plum an old SU colour, darker bits were added with black towards the left hand side. I finished it with some jewels and mounted it on Taken With Teal and Lavender Lace.
Hope you like it!
Check out my blog www.fionastampinup.blogspot.com for more ideas.

Coral lovely

Here is a card I made using the hostess set Oh, So Lovely. Old Olive cardstock has been used for the base, with a piece of the Olive Prints designer paper matted on black cardstock forming the next layer. A smaller piece of coral cardstock has been stamped with coral ink using the Canvas background stamp to provide a subtle texture, then matted onto black cardstock. The sentiment was made using two stamps from the Sincere Salutations set. There are several ways to get partial images from a stamp:
  • use markers to colour the part you want to stamp
  • mask off (or cover) the part of the image you don't want to stamp, then use your inkpad as normal. Remove the mask then stamp.
The image, stamped onto white cardstock, was then coloured using a watercolour brush with the coral and olive inkpads. This was then layered onto black cardstock and mounted using the foam pads to create dimension.

Products used (all Stampin' Up!):

  • Stamps: Oh So Lovely, Sincere Salutations, Canvas
  • Ink: Black Stazon, Cameo Coral, Old Olive
  • Cardstock: Cameo Coral, Old Olive, Whisper White, Basic Black
  • Other: Old Olive Prints designer paper

Don't forget to pop over to the new forum for a chat! It's really easy to register, and there's a gallery too, so post your own creations to inspire others.

In Love With Stamping? We are!

Oooh, sorry we've been neglecting you! We have been up to our ears in trialling a brand new website for all you rubber stamping fans! It's called In Love With Stamping and has been created by SU demonstrator Karin and her extremely talented husband Dave to give everyone a fabulous source of inspiration and a place to chat about stamping.

So we've been frantically trying to fill the gallery with lovely samples so that the cupboard isn't bare when you visit. Sign up as a member and you’ll be able to post your own projects in the gallery, too.

There are weekly challenges on the site and I took part in the first, which was to create a card using Brocade Blue, Apricot Appeal and Only Orange. Here’s my challenge card – you’ll notice that I couldn’t resist adding some Chocolate Chip!

So click here to hop on over to In Love With Stamping for a visit - you'll love it!

Stamps: Polka Dots & Paisley

Wheely Good Deal....

Stampin' Up! have a great offer running during May. On preselected stamps the co-ordinating wheel is being offered at 50% off. These wheels are great for doing backgrounds or covering a large area, such as on boxes etc.
I have made a couple of cards to demo at my May workshops. Both are using the Polka Dots and Paisley set and the Petals Jumbo wheel. Now I have to admit this is my favourite set. I find it so easy to to create wonderful projects with this set.
The first card is made using only two colours Orchid Opulence and Whisper White.

I used my Orchid Opulence ink pad to ink the Petals Jumbo wheel. I placed a 'post-it' in the centre of the white card thinking I would get a frame affect around a plain white centre. It didn't quite work out this way when I lifted the 'post it' off, because the pattern is not dense enough. But by using my Orchid Opulence Stampin' Write pen, I drew the frame onto the centre. Then the card was just finished off by stamping the flower from the Polka Dots and Paisley stamp set using the Stampin' Write pens again to have the flower head in Orchid Opulence and the stem in Old Olive. I placed a Gold brad at the base of the flower then layered onto Orchid Opulence card and centred into the frame.

For my second card, then come over to my blog http://needmoretimetocraft.blogspot.com/ and check it out.

Thanks for looking X

Two stamp sets, same ingredients, different cards!

Two cards made from exactly the same ingredients - I just changed the stamp set.

I demonstrated the giraffe card at a workshop where all the guests had children. But, just in case they didn’t want to make a children’s card, I showed them how exactly the same pack of prepared cardstock and accessories could be used to make a different card, using the Polka Dots & Paisley stamp set.

Stamps: Wild About You; Polka Dots & Paisley
Cardstock:
Old Olive, More Mustard, Ruby Red, Very Vanilla
Ink: Versamark®
Accessories: ¼” Grosgrain Ribbon – Always Artichoke, Round Tab Punch, Circle Rhinestone brads – Fire, Stampin’ Pastels®, sponge daubers, 1/16” hand-held circle punch

CD Mini-album Project

This past weekend I met with some of my friends to make mini-albums. You know all those free or old or damaged CDs that seem to accumulate? This is a fun way to use them. I also used a Bind-It-All and my Stampin' Up stash, which they hadn't yet seen. We had a great time making the albums and they're so easy! If you'd like to see the results, here are the results.

And if you'd like to have a go at making one, grab a handful (5 or 6) and here are the steps:

1. Mark off 1/2" on one side of each CD, to make one straight piece. This is where you will later attach the Bind-It-All wire. After scoring it with a craft knife at least three times, heat it with a heat gun to soften it up. While it was still warm, use a pair of utility scissors (not small blades!)to cut off the piece.

2. Select some of the CDs to cover with paper and some to paint and/or stamp. If you are covering the CD with paper, do it now. I used a large bottle of inexpensive PVA glue, spread onto the CD with a foam brush. I then attached the paper (just big enough for a CD), then cut the paper around to fit exactly the CD.

3. Use alcohol ink to make a mottled, multicolor look. Remember to do this to the side of the CD that doesn't have writing (use the side of the CD with writing for covering with paper as in step 2).

4. Once you've covered and/or painted all the CDs, bind it with the Bind-It-All wires.

5. After binding it, attach your photos, embellishments, or stamped images. You want to do this last to avoid catching anything in the Bind-It-All.

Now you have a very durable little mini-album. I used Paint Shop Pro v.9 to print my photos, as it has a handy little template for printing mini-photos, but you can also use Photoshop Elements, which has a contact sheet printing facility.

Stampin' Up materials I used: Patterned paper was the Brocade Background (#110091), ribbons were the 1/4 grosgrain in Certainly Celery (#110124) and Very Vanilla (#110042), stamps were from the Unfrogettable (#106624), Happy Hearts (#100319), and more not shown here. For the frog and snail, I stamped those on cardstock (Always Artichoke #110052 and So Sffron #110086), then cut them out. The only non-SU! products I used were the Adirondack Alcohol Inks and the Bind-It-All wires and machine.

The wonderful thing about Stampin' Up is how well everything (ribbons, cardstock, markers, patterned paper, etc.) coordinates. It saves a lot of time hunting through your stash for the right colour when you're in the midst of a project!

In addition to my "Grandma's Brag Book", some other possible themes could include holiday/travel albums, pet albums, tribute albums, favourite flowers, a walk in the woods, a day out, birthday albums, and the list goes on!

Reflections

I have been playing with the Summer by the Sea stamps today and the watercolour wonder crayons, I thought I would show you one of my efforts. The main colours I have used are real red and yo yo yellow. I also used the sand background.

FILM STRIP

Hello I thought I ll stop by and show you my latest card made with StampinUp goodies.

The card base is Kraft card stock I ve stamped the lower half with Versamark and the Canvas background stamp, then made the film strip with the spiral punch and some black card stock, three white squares were stamped using one of the flowers from the Heartfelt level 3 hostess set, colours used were Taken with Teal, Creamy Caramel and Certainly Celery and the outline was stamped in Choc Chip. Half backed pearls from the Pretties Kit and a little sentiment finished off this quick to make card. Hope you ve enjoyed my little creation. Hugs Monica

Carte Postal

I used chocolate chip and only orange cardstock. and chocolate chip and versamark inks. Some of the images have been embossed. I had to be quick on the chocolate chip ink as it dries so quickly. I cased the idea from a SU demonstrator, Stampinkins, obviously I used different stamps and inks. The tag pulls out and I used sincere salutations, Thinking of You, for the sentiment.

Making a journal

I made this journal using chipboard and some of Stampin' Up!'s gorgeous Cutie Pie paper. I have made so much with this pack of paper and still have loads left... which pleases me greatly as I usually have great trouble cutting into a sheet of beautiful 12x12 patterned paper!

To make the journal, I covered the chipboard (in this case it was an A4 notepad backing cut in half to make two A5 pieces) and decorated the front piece. I covered all the unsightly edges on the inside with a piece of Rose Red cardstock, making a cunning little flap to go inside first (see right).

This way I didn't have to pierce my cover pieces and could tie up the inside pages with ribbon.

It was pretty quick to make - and makes a lovely gift. You can fill it with lined paper for someone who likes journalling, or with plain cardstock to make a simple scrapbook. You could even use 6x6 scrapbook page inserts to make a "proper" scrapbook. That's my next challenge!

There are more comprehensive instructions for this project - plus more pictures - at my blog, All Things Stampy. Please click here.

Supplies
Stamps: Headline Alphabet (p66)
Cardstock: Rose Red, So Saffron, Bashful Blue
Paper: Cutie Pie (p73)
Ink: Rose Red
Accessories: Round Tab Punch, ¼” Grosgrain Ribbon - Whisper White, chipboard

Summer Days

I love this set Summer by the Sea- and I think the colours used were great-although they haven't come out well in the photo, they are Ballet Blue (second stamped) and So Saffron, the card stock is whisper white, and the Earth Tones pack, and the Hodge Podge in the corner is just an exra detail.
This would be a great card for any occasion-if you would like to book a party to make it with your guests, then do contact me through my blog. http://stampinupsam.blogspot.com/

Never Ending Joy

I have seen this idea before, in fact I think it was one of our demonstrators but I have used different colours. I used the stems from the never ending joy set. The flowers were chalked with lovely lilac added a flat backed pearl from the pretties kit. I used naturals ivory and elegant eggplant cardstock. The rhinestone brads are also from the pretties kit. Elegant eggplant ribbon, the corner punch to create the scallop and finished with part of the happy birthday stamp from stem sayings. I also did some pricking with the equipment from the tool kit.

Cutie Pie

These papers arrived this week and are very cute!, they are perfect for cards, scrapbook pages or for altering a spare clipboard!.I used sections of the papers to cover the clipboard and decorated it with a 'Pick a Petal' bloom & 'Happy Hearts' stamped onto Whisper white card in 'Barely Banana', 'Ruby Red' & 'Bashful Blue' , I created faux stitching around all the stamped images using a 'Chocolate Chip' stampin' write marker, I added a few pieces of white & celery ribbon to the clip and added a scalloped piece of barely banana card with a bashful blue circlular centre and popped on a flower - perfect for keeping my lists on. Bold Butterfly Box

I love the clean images on these boxes, each box is made using one A4 sheet of Whisper white card stock.

I used the Flitting by jumbo wheel #104156 and the Bold Butterfly stamp set #103804 with bashful blue ink, and Whisper White 1/4" Grosgrain ribbon to secure the box closed.

To stick the box together i used Stampin Up sticky strip which was really handy as i used the inside of the reel to create the curve on the lid of the box.

I got two different shades from my bashful blue ink pad by stamping on a scrap piece of paper before i stamped my card then i stamped the outline over the top with the help of my stamp-a-ma-jig to get it straight.

It's the perfect project for a beginner as it is simple and quick to make.

Loads of Love and Designer Papers

I have two projects to show you today. The first one is a card for a friends birthday. I have used the petals stampin wheel and inked it up using the Rose Red ink pad. Rolled it over the rose red cardstock and cut a strip approximately 6.5cm. Then I used my corner rounder to make a scalloped edge. It was then stuck onto the main card with DST.

I then used the 'Loads of Love' and the 'Loads of Love Accessories' stamp sets. The truck was stamped three times, once on the designer paper, once on rose red cardstock and once on apricot appeal cardstock. I then cut out sections from the cardstock and layered them onto the designer paper. The lady was stamped directly onto the whisper white cardstock. I then stuck the truck on top of the white so the lady was visible in the window. If you have the stamp a-ma-jig you can stamp the lady after you have stuck the truck down. Its optional if you want to round corners etc. Then mat and layer onto Apricot Appeal cardstock. I then used a round tab punch and punched out in rose red, added a greeting from the accessories set, placed this on the corner. Mounted the whole thing using the stmpin dimensionals. I then added some flowers but coloured them using glitter pens as I don't have the markers YET!

Voila!

My next project is for a pencil/pen holder. I have used chipboard and cut out some 4 x 4 inch squares. You would need five for the basics and another two if you want to put some dividers inside. If you don't have chipboard you can use the back of paper pads, you know the grey bits that you tend to throw away. Cover all the sides, on all the pieces. Then you need to punch holes to thread ribbon though to hold all the pieces together. I used a crop a dile. Then I weaved the ribbon through.
Then I took a further two pieces and made some sections and secured those with ribbon at the top. Voila all done. I hope you enjoyed viewing :-)
STAMPS : Loads of Love and Loads of love Accessories (pg 37), Petals stampin' Wheel (pg 71).
PAPER: Designer series paper in rose red (pg 72), cardstock in rose red, apricot appeal and whisper white (pg 69-71).
INK:Black stazon (pg 82), rose red (pg 71)
ACCESSORIES: brads own stash, Round tab punch and corner rounder (pg 80), Stampin' Dimensionals (pg 81), whisper white 1/4" grosgrain (pg 86), crop a dile (pg85).

Cheers!

This card combines Cheers To You (111037), Sanded (109294) and Seeing Spots (107007).

I used a VersaMark inkpad to stamp the background pattern on the black panel, which you can just about see in the photo, but which catches the light in real life.
Using marker pens, I coloured in the tankard of beer and added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to look like condensation on the side of the glass.
Can you see that I mounted the scalloped circle onto a piece of black card cut with the Round Tab Punch, (109974)? There is also a pricked pattern on the square panel that can't be seen very clearly in the photo.

Stamps: Cheers To You, Sanded & Seeing Spots
Paper: Basic Black, Perfect Plum & Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black, Perfect Plum, VersaMark, Bordering Blue & More Mustard Marker Pens
Accessories: Crafter's Toolkit, Snail Adhesive, Scallop, Round Tab, 1 3/8” & 1/8" Circle Punches, Black Gingham Ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Blender Pen & Dimensionals

Designer Paper

This designer paper is called Cutie Pie (pg 73) and it has a coordinating stamp set called Two Cute (pg 55). One great thing about the designer paper is that is makes it so easy to coordinate, just pick some colours from the scheme that is already going on. And don't those colours go great together?

The base for this card is So Saffron, with a 5cm strip of the designer paper on the bottom. Then a 2cm strip of rose red slightly overlapping it. The heart stamp is part of the Simply Said stamp set (pg 39), which I stamped in Versamark and then coloured with the Stampin' Pastels. It's a technique which Stampin' Up! calls Poppin' Pastels. Before I layered the heart onto the Old Olive, I used a sponge to get some colour onto the edge of the white card stock. This technique adds just a little dimension to the image.

The final touch to the card was some 3/4" circles punched in So Saffron and adhered to the top right. You can just make them out in the photo.

Thanks for having a look! I'm a Stampin' Up! demonstrator in Warwickshire, just north of Coventry, but willing to travel into Birmingham as well. Please contact me with any questions about Stampin' Up! products or if you are interested in hosting your own party.

no layer cards

OK - I love the simple look of no layer cards, and this card I made is simple, easy, and super elegant.

I colored the stamp with the markers right onto the rubber, rose red for the flowers, artichoke for the leaves, and chocolate chip for the stem.

Stamped onto my very vanilla card base, tied the moss gingham ribbon around the card, positioning the bow at the stem.

Added the greeting just above the ribbon, and voila! Eye catching elegance.

Don't have the markers? Not a problem, you can use your ink pads and a blender pen, just pick up the color from the ink pad with your blender pen, and color onto the rubber stamp with the blender pen.

Supplies:
Garden Silhouettes (level 2 hostess set)
Welcoming Words
Very Vanilla card stock
Moss gingham ribbon
Rose red, always artichoke and chocolate chip markers

Cheers,
Karin

Happy

This card combines two stamp sets, Polka Dots and Paisley and Seeing Spots.

I used a Stamp-a-ma-jig to get the word ‘happy’ correctly positioned. The paisley accents and the background circles were made by inking the parts of the stamps that I wanted, using matching Marker Pens. The daisy accent was stamped, punched out and lifted on dimensionals.

Stamps: Polka Dots And Paisley & Seeing Spots
Paper: Mellow Moss, Whisper White, Blush Blossom & Lavender Lace
Ink: Mellow Moss, Blush Blossom & Lavender Lace Inkpads & Markers
Accessories: Stamp-a-ma-jig, Snail Adhesive, Crafter’s Tool Kit, 1/8” & 1” Circle Punches & Dimensionals

I used the Tuesday Colour Combinations over at SCS for these cards using the Sending Happy Thoughts Simply Sent Set. Makes the set look different again doesn't it.

Its good to think out of the box sometimes!!!!

Cake!

I love this little fairy cake stamp from the Happy Day stamp set (which forms part of the Happy Day Simply Sent kit). I thought I'd try using it with some of the Soft Subtles range and I like the end product even more than I thought I would.

I'm also a huge fan of chipboard and I love the SU "On Board" chipboard, particularly the Blossoms and Basics set. The set is good value, in my view, as there are six 22.9 cm x 22.9 cm sheets in the set for £12.95; I've know I've bought small packs including six or ten chipboard shapes for £2 or £3 in the past. I coloured the piece of chipboard with a thin wash using an Old Olive Watercolour Wonder Crayon; the net effect gives a colour more akin to Mellow Moss, which co-ordinates well with the other colours used in the card.

The base card is Pale Plum (half of an A4 sheet folded in half), with a layer of Barely Banana (stamped with the Paisley background stamp using Pale Plum ink) adhered to the left hand side. There's a thin strip (approximately 2cms) of Perfect Plum card on top of that and I've used my paper piercing tool to pierce holes on each side of the Perfect Plum strip.

I stamped the cake with Black Stazon on Whisper White cardstock and, after colouring it with Soft Subtles Watercolour Wonder Crayons, I punched the image with the scallop punch. I used the scallop punch as I think it makes it easier to adhere the punched image to the piece of chipboard - I tend to use the "petals" from the scallop as extra cardstock base for the glue. Have a look at the photos below. (You could punch a circle instead, but the scallop petals are handy to use for glue application; alternatively, you could cut a rough circle slightly smaller than the chipboard scallop, but I'm too lazy!).

I've used Dazzling Diamonds glitter (adhered with a glue pen) around the circle in the centre of the chipboard scallop and I've added some dots of glitter on the "petals". The white flower and simulated pearl are from the SU Pretties kit and the ribbon is Elegant Eggplant. I've stamped "happy day" using Pale Plum ink in the lower right hand corner of the base card; it gives a pale watermark effect. The chipboard piece was adhered to the base card using Dimensionals foam pads... don't forget to add a pad to the centre underneath the stamped image to give the Whisper White stamped piece some support!

I used the Lovely as a Tree stamp and French Script stamp for the background. I made a rough mask outline of the tree and stamped the French Script. I then used the Stampamajig to position the stamp, stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with white powder. The cardstock colours are more mustard and mellow moss, then added a couple of brads, some ribbon and, hey presto, a simple card.

Heartfelt and Chocloate

I made this card as a 7 x 5". I used the Print Design papers in Chocolate Chip. The colour cards are Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip and very vanilla. The ribbon is very vanilla and the brads are from the vintage set. The image is from the Heartfelt Thanks set and is stamped in Creamy Caramel and Chocolate Chip inks. I also used the two circle punches stamped in chocolate chip and stamped the sentiment with the Welcoming Words Hostess set. I then sponged over the image with Chocolate Chip ink.

Hodgepodge Hardware

Thought you might like to see this card I made using my Hodgepodge Hardware tin,a stamp from the Carte Postale set and the Leaves ala carte wheel. I have used Really Rust cardstock together with Old Olive and Very Vanilla. There is a small piece of the stripe paper from the Fall Flowers designer paper collection. I used the wheel with Really Rust ink to print the leaf design over the bottom of the folded card and used the same wheel but with Old Olive ink on a small panel of Old Olive cardstock. The panel is mounted onto the Vanilla cardstock and I have stamped a flower spray for the image that fits inside on the the metal plaques from the Hodgepodge set and aatched with matching brads. The metal swirl is also from that set and the Best Wishes stamps is printed in Really Rust and comes from the Sincere Salutations range of stamps. Ribbon is Always Artichoke 1/4" grosgrain and if you took the bow off would be a great mans card I think!

Sending Happy Thoughts........

The Simply Sent Stamp Sets will be on Special Offer from the 1st April - 10% off for the whole month of April......

They make a fantastic gift for someone, who is either just starting stamping or for someone like me who just loves flowers stamps....

The set comes in a lovely box completes with all the ingredients needed to make 10 cards, but to be honest there is so much stuff in the box to make more cards. I added 3 sheets of cardstock and made different ones on the inspiration sheet.

Also the stampset which has 6 stamps in it are all Die Cut so you are ready to go really quickley. The flowers stamp out beautifully as parts of the rubber are tiny dots and when you stamp on the cardstock, they end up looking two toned.........Great effect.

Oh, So Lovely

I wanted to make this one my first posting on Stamping For Real. I treated myself to some new gear, and I was quite pleased with this off-centre gatefold type card, and it was quick and simple to make.
Made using Certainly Celery cardstock, ribbon and designer paper, along with the cheer and wishes stamped greeting in garden green. I hope you like it!

Flap Card

I saw a challenge on SCS today for a flap card. I did not enter the challenge, I just thought I would have a go. I used the Carte Postale stamp, Sage Shadow card, versamarker and clear embossing. I think you would call it a self coloured card?!!
